meetup
Steve has been doing his own Wim Hof practice on the shores of Lake Ontario since 2014. Back then he was the only one. Now our group has grown into a community; it’s always better when we’re together! The tools of breath and water are free and available to everyone. Advanced, total newbie or just curious, everyone is welcome!
If you would like to support our community gatherings, become a Member of Breathing In Nature and get all the perks!
We meet every Saturday year round at 9 am. Rain, shine, storm or snow! We get started after the hugs and introductions, usually around 9:15 am. If you’re running late, don’t worry about it, this is an informal gathering of friends.
We meet at Humber Bay Park West. There’s lots of free parking in the winter. If you take the TTC, we often give folks a ride from High Park station. Be in touch if you need a ride.

In cold temperatures or extreme weather (as in life) being prepared is half the battle:
- Comfy, loose-fitting clothes (you won’t be able to put on tight clothes such as yoga pants with frozen hands and feet)
- Layer up! Be the onion: Underlayer, outer layers, waterproof/windbreaker layers if it rains or snows. Better to be overdressed, than underdressed
- Winter boots, hat, scarf or wind guards, mittens
- Best materials to keep you warm: wool, fleece
- Bathing suit and towel, water shoes optional, large poncho towels are great for changing in
- Water bottle or thermos with warm drinks
- Yoga mat to sit/lie down on
- Optional: bring snacks or firewood to share
Our Saturday meet up is all about community. Life long friendships and romantic relationships have formed as we support each other in our journeys. It is not about breath hold competitions, stop watches or suffer fests in the water.
We start with breathwork. Steve guides the first rounds of breathing to the rythym of the drum. Everyone goes into the water at their own pace. There is no pressure to fully immerse, or even go in at all. Listen to the wisdom of your body. This is your practice and it might change week to week. We warm up our bodies after with movement, like the horse stand, light exercise or dance.
We celebrate after with a fire. Sometimes we share snacks. Stay as long as you like. Feel free to bring your family and dogs.
