Weekly Wim Hof Method
Toronto Meet Up!
It's warm outside but the water is still cold. Please read the descriptions below to come prepared for your dip.
We meet every Saturday 9 am to approx. 10:30 am. We get started after the hugs and introductions, usually around 9:15 am. If you’re running late, don’t worry about it, this is an informal gathering of friends. In the warmer months we often hang out on the beach and BBQ.
Sometimes Nici and I are away adventuring, teaching a workshop or camping, but the group still meets.
We meet at Humber Bay Park West. There’s lots of free parking in the winter. If you take the TTC, we often give folks a ride from High Park station. Be in touch if you need a ride.
Apple Map Coordinates: 43.61314° N, 79.47936° W
For community questions email Nici.
We meet every Saturday year round. Rain, Shine, Storm and Snow!
In cold temperatures or extreme weather (as in life) being prepared is half the battle:
- Comfy, loose-fitting clothes (you won’t be able to put on tight clothes such as yoga pants with frozen hands and feet)
- Layer up! Be the onion 😉 Underlayer, outer layers, waterproof/windbreaker layers if it rains or snows, better to be overdressed, than underdressed
- Winter boots, hat, scarf or wind guards, mittens
- Best materials to keep you warm: wool, fleece
- Bathing suit and towel, water shoes recommended, large poncho towels are great for changing in
- Water bottle or thermos with warm drinks
- Floor mat (for outdoor use, it will get dirty!)
- Optional: Snack for after to enjoy around the fire!
Steve has been doing his own Wim Hof practice on the shores of Lake Ontario since 2014. Back then he was the only one. Now our group has grown into a community. It’s amazing to see people taking control of their health and connecting to a natural way of life. Advanced, total newbie or just curious, everyone is welcome! Our Saturday meet up is all about community. Life long friendships and romantic relationships have formed as we support each other in our journeys. It is not about breath hold competitions, stop watches and suffer fests in the water.
Steve usually guides the first rounds of breathing accompanied by the rythym of the drum. Everyone goes into the water at their own pace, in their own comfort zone. There is no pressure to fully immerse, or even go in at all. Listen to the wisdom of your body. This is your practice and it might change week to week. We warm up our bodies before and after with the horse stand. Nici guides a moving meditation (“No Dimensions”) after the dip to warm up. We invite everyone to offer their own energies: Guided breath & meditations, movement, music, whatever it might be, we share our strenghts and gifts.
We celebrate after with a fire. Sometimes we share snacks. Stay as long as you like.
